Not all vehicles will require paint correction. Most new vehicles can get away with a wash, Clay bar, iron removal and a minor polish. The only way to tell is to inspect your vehicles paint with our specialized lighting to determine if it has any of the paint defects depicted in the picture below. Not removing these defects will amplify them with our protective coating.
Now that you understand paint defects, let us talk about your car’s paint and how thin it is due to technology allowing robots to paint at the thinnest microns in history to save money. Paint is commonly measured in mills, mm, or microns. A sheet of printer paper is about 100 microns thick. Remember this because after you read below...you will be blown away at how dangerously close your car’s paint is being compromised to the elements and why we need to protect your clearcoat before it fails.
Paint correction involves multiple stages of compounds and polishes to level your clearcoat. You can only paint correct once or twice before you compromise the clearcoat. Due to precise robotic technology, car paint today is much thinner than in the past, with modern clear coats less than half the thickness of a US dollar bill. Factory paint jobs today typically range from 95–125 microns (3.7–4.3 mils) thick with your clearcoat only averaging 35-50 microns!
Revivify is up to 10 microns thick and will protect the clearcoat and paint. This protective layer hydrophobic, UV and chemical resistant properties are what protects the remaining clearcoat you have from breaking down and allowing the sun to fade your paint and peel your clearcoat. It is important to protect the clearcoat BEFORE it is compromised. Average brand new clearcoat is 35-50 microns, or 40% of your paint thickness (primer, base, clear). This means that we can add up to 30% additional thickness to your clearcoat! Giving you peace of mind that you have a resilient sacrificial coating on your painted surfaces.
